[Email Subject] Request to Attend RustConf 2026
Dear [Manager’s Name],
I’m writing to request approval to attend RustConf 2026, taking place September 8–11 in Montreal, Canada. This is the Rust community’s original annual conference focused on the Rust programming language and its growing global open source ecosystem, bringing together developers, maintainers, engineers, and technical leaders from around the world.
Attending RustConf 2026 will give me critical insight into the long-term vision of the Rust project and where innovation is headed. It’s an important opportunity for our organization to be present, stay aligned with the direction of the language, and help shape its future.
Why RustConf?
RustConf is known for its high-quality technical talks that are vetted by leaders in the Rust community, hands-on technical workshops, and a strong focus on real-world, professional applications and the future of computing. The 2026 conference is expected to draw up to 700 industry professionals, making it a great opportunity for me to stay current with Rust’s best practices, gain insights into emerging tooling and language developments, and connect with thought leaders in the systems programming and cloud-native space. RustConf 2026 is also the 10th annual installment.
Here is how my attendance will benefit our team and company:
- Deep Technical Learning: The conference schedule offers carefully curated sessions covering Rust in AI, performance optimization, memory safety, embedded systems, and real-world use cases—all of which are directly relevant to our work.
- Practical Skills: Optional hands-on workshops on September 8 will allow me to sharpen my skills in areas like async programming, Linux kernel development, or C++ to Rust migration.
- Strategic Networking: The “hallway track” and networking events provide direct access to Rust project members, maintainers, and other companies successfully using Rust in production. I will have the opportunity to collaborate with technical leaders on the challenges and implementations we are working on and form strategic partnerships that will benefit our company.
- Actionable Takeaways: I will return with insights into language features, tools, and libraries that can streamline development and improve system reliability. I would be happy to compile a summary report to share learnings with the team and identify where we can incorporate new ideas or improve existing processes.
- Cost-Effective Professional Development: The registration fee is [insert early-bird, standard, or late registration fee for employer-paid ticket as stated on our registration page], which includes access to all keynotes, breakout sessions, exhibits, an evening reception, and lunch. The UnConference on Friday, September 11 offers deep-dive, community-led discussions and can be added for only $30 CAD. Additionally, I’d like to join [Workshop Name] on Tuesday, September 8 because it will help me learn [insert relevant takeaways from the goals stated on our workshop page]. The added fee for this workshop is [insert cost of the workshop you are interested in].
Rust’s influence continues to grow, particularly in safety-critical and performance-conscious applications. Participating in RustConf will enable me to stay ahead of trends in systems programming and cloud-native development, and ensure [your company] is using the right tools to support secure, efficient, and maintainable software.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. I would be happy to discuss the agenda further and outline a knowledge-sharing plan following the event.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
